Step Five: Keep it Alive and Visible
Now that you’ve established your Coaching Philosophy, this module focuses on incorporating it into your everyday coaching practice.

Your Coaching Philosophy is a unique reflection of who you are and who you aspire to be as a coach. While you may choose whether to share it with others, it’s essential to consistently remind yourself of it. Keeping your philosophy visible helps reinforce your values and behaviors, allowing you to measure whether you’re living up to it. Over time, you might adjust or evolve your philosophy to ensure it aligns with your ongoing experiences and the outcomes you value most.
Next Step
Now that you’ve consolidated your values, behaviors, and definitions of success, it’s important to keep this work in a place where you can easily review it. Some coaches choose to display it prominently – perhaps laminated on their desk – while others may store it in a coaching diary or planner.
Additionally, at the start of each season, clearly communicate your Coaching Philosophy to players, officials, and parents within your organization. This transparency establishes your principles and sets expectations for the values and behaviors you expect from everyone involved. By doing so, you ensure your philosophy not only guides your actions but also influences those around you.
Here are some examples of a visual Coaching Philosophy:

Congratulations on completing the journey to define your Coaching Philosophy! By understanding and articulating your values, behaviors, and definition of success, you’ve created a powerful tool to guide your coaching practice. Keeping your philosophy visible and reviewing it regularly will help ensure you stay aligned with your core principles and continue to grow as a coach.
As you share your philosophy with others, you also set clear expectations for the athletes, parents, and officials in your community, fostering a positive environment. Remember, your philosophy can evolve over time, adapting to new experiences and insights. Stay committed to your journey of growth, and let your Coaching Philosophy be your compass as you continue to inspire and lead those you coach.
